Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Lucknow is embarking on a new journey, that of giving back to society. “What can we give? What can we do? How can we contribute in our own small way to make this planet cleaner and more liveable? In a Special Assembly conducted on 12th February, we invited Ms. Anuradha Gupta, Founder of an NGO Prithvi Innovations to speak to the children. Ms. Gupta is doing phenomenal work in reducing waste and promoting not three but ten R’s. She has been joined by Nagar Mahapalika and other like-minded people who wish to make a difference. Reducing waste, especially wastage of food was brought to light. Every 3.5 seconds 2 persons die of hunger and 75 % of them are children. The children and staff took a pledge, that they would be more conscious of the immense loss that food wastage causes.
Another initiative that the school will now espouse is that of “River Clean Up”. Gomti Gaatha is all about creating an awareness of how we are choking the lifelines of the nation. Children will be encouraged to join in the weekly River Cleanup drive. We hope that this awareness will translate into action and parents too will volunteer. If we as a community would like to work towards the realization of Sustainable Development Goals, we must initiate small steps in this direction.
