Mrs. Anuradha Gupta from Prithvi Innovations was invited to participate and present a poster in a the Ist Global Conference of the 10YFP Sustainable Food Systems Programme,held on 21-23 June 2017, in Pretoria, South Africa.
The theme of the conference was "Sustainable Food Systems for all – Catalyzing Change through MultiStakeholder Action". Around 28 countries from around the world participated in the conference.
The concept (of being a complete Food Saver plus striving to be a complete Food Provider), behind Prithvi Innovations project 'Promoting Annapoorna Culture', was well received by all in the conference and the word 'Annapoorna',became the buzzword in the conference,inspiring many delegates to practice it.
The conference explored innovative multi-stakeholder approaches to tackle food systems challenges in general, and discuss the need of ensuring sustainable food systems in the face of a changing climate and growing urbanization in the African context more specifically. Reduction of food losses and waste was one of the themes included in the list of work areas.This conference helped catalyze new multi-stakeholder collaborations and initiatives to address core issues for more sustainable food systems, including:
- Sustainable food system priorities in Africa
- Sustainable diets
- Food loss and waste
- Food and agricultural value chains
- Resilient food production systems.
